Fashion week came and went, we have never worked so hard in our lives. We were going on three hours of sleep per night between the model fittings, press time and preventing meltdowns, time went by so fast. So this is what it takes to build a brand and a company?. When it was over and our day jobs called and asked if we would be willing to come back to work one day earlier than scheduled, we tried to tell them we were too tired and had planned to sleep for 24hrs. They laughed and said that we should be well rested, because of facebook posts, we looked like we had been having the time of our lives. We had, but it was work and not a vacation. The fashion industry is so busy and cutthroat, your whole year's worth of working hard and building your collection boils down to the five minutes that is allocated to you on the runway and you hope that the story you are telling with your pieces translates through and that quite simply the audience loves your pieces. From fielding questions, the same ones, about your source of inspiration and origins, vision etc, all this while trying to balance in sky high heels that were obviously created by someone who never had to walk in them, it all takes a toll. When its finally over, false lashes off and you are in your oversize sweats on the couch looking a lot less than than glamorous, you are already working on the next collection. But ..... while it lasted though, you felt like a princess..... and it was truly magical.
